The Opening Night

The evening

The season begins

The first night the whole membership is back in one room after the summer. Old friends caught up with, new faces introduced, and the season’s calendar opened from the stage. Guests are welcome, and it is the easiest night of the year to bring one.

The collection out of its summer lay-up and lined up from arrival, with the season’s new additions kept under cover until the moment they are not.

    A first night in the room

    For everyone who has joined since the last one. New members meet their Attaché in person, are seated with people the club thinks they will get on with, and leave knowing a good deal more of the membership than they arrived knowing.

    Doing business through Ramadan. How the pace changes, why the relationship work done in these weeks carries the rest of the year, and what visiting partners consistently misread.

    The last long table before summer

    The season closes the way it opened, with everyone in one room. One long dinner, the year’s best evenings toasted, and a proper goodbye before half the membership leaves the city to the heat.

    The season told through its drives, one last late convoy for anyone still keen, and the collection handed over to the workshop for the summer.
